Below, read a Q & A session with Tom about his career, his favorite projects, and what excites him about his new role.

  1. How were you introduced to CPP or the Wind Engineering industry?

In 2015, CPP was looking for an outside Director to add to their Board. I was contacted, went through the interview process, and met the expanded team.  I was very impressed with the team and business. Luckily, I was selected and have enjoyed working with the company ever since.

  1. In your career, what is your favorite project you have been involved in?

My favorite project was in 2019-2021, when I led the global business Integration of my former company’s largest acquisition – Artesyn Embedded Power.  Artesyn was the same size as our company, and the acquisition effectively doubled the company and allowed us to reach our goal of $1B In revenues.  Over the two-year period, we exceeded our integration synergy targets.

  1. What do you feel is the biggest strength of our company right now?

That’s easy – the team at CPP is very dedicated, focused, and aligned to delivering the very best engineering services to our customers. This alignment makes us strong in the markets we serve.

  1. What strengths do you bring to CPP?

I bring more than 30 years of acquisition, business integration, finance, and legal experience.  As head of acquisitions for several companies, I was successful in growing revenues/operating income and diversifying into adjacent markets. But really, the credit goes to the team I was fortunate to have.

  1. What is the number one metric you will use to measure success?

The number one metric is whether I improved CPP’s revenues, EBITDA and further diversified the markets it serves – all while preserving the positive culture at the company.

  1. What is it about this position that EXCITES you?

I get to work with Oliver and the Team members – which I greatly respect.

  1. How important is team building?

Very important!  The team makes everything happen, and building on their current talents is vital for CPP, our customers, and the personal development of each employee. My goal is to encourage and help my team members so that they can grow.

  1. What hobbies or activities do you enjoy in your spare time?

I really like to run and have been doing so over the last 25 years. It clears the mind and helps me stay balanced. I have always been interested in business, operational improvement, and how markets quickly change.

  1. What was your first paying job?

Well, there were several that I started doing at a very young age – before 14.  I was a paper boy for a local newspaper and had to collect from customers. That was an education on so many levels! I also worked at hotel restaurants on the beach in Fort Lauderdale and did demolition work for a construction company.

  1. What’s your least favorite chore around the house?

That’s easy. Cooking. I am clueless about how to cook. I can grill, but that is it.
