About This Position

Role Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the BD team in building and managing strong client relationships, driving growth in both new and existing markets, and representing the CPP brand globally. This role requires collaboration with key sector leads, service line leads, and regional BD teams to ensure alignment of strategies and effective pursuit of opportunities. Success in the role depends on combining leadership, business intelligence, and a deep understanding of CPP’s technical services to deliver sustainable growth and meaningful client outcomes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Partner with senior management to plan, direct, and oversee BD team activities to achieve defined sales targets.
  • Lead BD initiatives and support marketing campaigns across global markets.
  • Develop a strong understanding of CPP’s technical services and articulate their value to clients.
  • Collaborate with technical experts to maintain high-quality client communication and manage client relationships.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify business opportunities and track sales, working closely with key sector leads, service line leads, and regional BD teams.
  • Manage the business development pipeline from lead generation to contract award and post-sales follow-up.
  • Review and refine BD team outputs, including presentations, proposals, and client-facing materials.
  • Assess potential partners, conduct competitive research, evaluate proposed deals, and develop business cases for new opportunities.
  • Train, mentor, and develop BD team members to build capability and ensure succession.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, NDA agreements, and all company policies.
Collaboration/Communication/Problem-Solving Skills
  • Prior experience in model manufacturing, 3D printing, or CNC machining is highly desirable.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and internal stakeholders globally.
  • Clearly communicate project priorities, timelines, accountabilities, and expectations.
  • Anticipate challenges and implement proactive solutions aligned with industry best practices.
Technical Skills/Decision-Making
  • Demonstrate advanced business intelligence and proven sales ability.
  • Develop and implement sales and BD strategies that align with company goals, in collaboration with sector and service line leads.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker for BD strategy and deal evaluation.
  • Translate client needs into tailored solutions by working with CPP’s technical experts.
Time Management/Dependability
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve sales objectives efficiently.
  • Establish systems for tracking sales and pipeline activity, ensuring visibility and accountability across regions, sectors, and service lines.
  • Prioritize BD initiatives to avoid delays and maximize business outcomes.
Mentoring/Leadership
  • Lead, train, and mentor BD professionals to ensure their growth and performance.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively while maintaining accountability for results.
  • Promote a high-performance culture and develop future leaders within the BD function.
Culture
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in BD practices.
  • Encourage adaptability and progressive thinking to meet evolving client and market needs.
  • Act as a role model, embodying CPP’s values of integrity, respect, collaboration, curiosity, and problem-solving.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in business management, administration, finance, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years’ professional experience in a related role, ideally within engineering or the building industry.
  • Strong track record in sales and business development strategy.
  • Advanced communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Pay: $90,000 – $130,000 USD
