CPP to discuss Title 24 proposed updates at ASHRAE & I2SL Joint Meeting

The Golden Gate Chapter of ASHRAE and I2SL Northern California chapter are holding a joint meeting this week, and CPP Wind’s Brad Cochran is a featured speaker.

The 2019 version of the California Energy Commission, Title 24, will address fan energy consumption in laboratory and factory exhaust systems for the first time. Previous versions of Title 24 exempted laboratory exhaust systems from the Building Energy Efficiency Standards. For 2019, the proposed changes to Part 6, Chapter 5, Section 140.9(c) now include prescriptive requirements for the maximum allowable fan energy consumption for both laboratory and factory exhaust systems with volume flow rates greater than 10,000 cfm.

Brad Cochran will explore the proposed updates to the standard and discuss coming changes to the Z9.5 standard as they relate to laboratory exhaust systems, along with their impact on the projected Title 24 regulation. Mr. Cochran has been on the frontlines of developing and implementing safe and energy-efficient laboratory exhaust systems for over 15 years. In this time, he has written and presented several papers on the subject matter at numerous ASHRAE national conferences and I2SL national and chapter conferences.

The meeting is on February 21, 2019, at 5:30 PM at the Pacific Energy Center in San Francisco, California, USA. Learn more and register for the event here.
